Google Adsense has become familiar, though not a great deal, to most of the Internet marketing community at this point for earning money. Adsense can be worthwhile if you have a good understanding of it as you can be earning money through Google Adsense.
With the website owner's permission, Google Adsense places ads on the website which are targeted to the site's users. Once publishers have created the ads, they are used to both sell products and create brand awareness. The ads which have been created belong to another program sponsored by Google, called Adwords.
The two programs of Google Adwords and Adsense run side by side. Google earns revenue from the ad creator if an ad is clicked after a user has performed a search on Google or one of their partner networks. This is where the term "pay per click" comes from.
When Google receives money from the creator or publisher of the ad, they have to split the amount with the person who owns or hosts the website that the Adwords ads appear and that is the beauty of Adsense. The percentage of the split does very and it is a well guarded secret what the percentage of the split it, but let's say it's 50% for our purposes.
If the ad creator is fine to pay .40 per click for his Adwords ad, then the website host who has joined the Adsense scheme can expect to receive approximately .20 when the ad is clicked. The other .20 is kept by Google. So in effect, this is a partnership between the website owners and Google.
Adsense is shown in the most relevant way possible. What does this mean? Well, probably an example would be the best way to illustrate this. Let's assume a website featuring women's clothing that is owned by Mary. If Mary wanted to monetize her website with Google Adsense the ads that would be shown would all be related to clothing, and more precisely, women's clothing. If a page of her website was dedicated to shoes, then the Adsense ads appearing on that page would be for women's shoes.
So the price per click is determined by what? The Adwords side of the equation kicks in here. Publishers who create Adwords bid on keywords. The publisher will be willing to pay more for each click if the keyword is more lucrative or sought after. Anywhere from a few cents to in excess of $50 per click is what these keywords range from.
It is not very hard to see how someone with a website that generates a decent amount of traffic can make some nice money by putting Google Adsense on their website. Many Internet marketers have put sites on the web with specific content, just to attract the high paying Adsense ads. -
