Exactly What Is Google Adsense And How Are Internet Businesses Earning Money With It?

Most of the Internet marketing community is at least somewhat familiar with earning money through Google Adsense at this point. It is worth spending some time understanding Google Adsense for earning money, as Adsense can be financially lucrative.

With the consent of the web site owner, small contextual ads called as Google Adsense are published on their sites. Publishers that are selling products and/or creating brand awareness create the ads. The ads that are created are called Adwords which is a Google sponsored program.

Google Adwords and Adsense run hand in hand. Google gets a predetermined price from the person who created the ad, every time someone who does a search on Google or one of their partner networks clicks on one of the sponsored ads. This is how the term 'pay per click' came into being.

This money that Google has received from the Adwords ad creator is then split with the owner of the web site, which is what makes Adsense so beneficial. It is a well guarded secret what the percentage of the split is, and it does vary, but for our purposes let's say it's 50%.

For example if the Adwords ad generates .40 per click, then the Adsense program pays the web site host .20 when the ad is clicked on their web site. The 50% that is left will be kept by Google. So basically it is a partnership of sorts between Google and web site owners.

Adsense is shown in the most relevant way possible. How so? The easiest way to see this is by looking at an example. Mary has a web site featuring women's clothing. If Mary wished to utilize the Google Adsense scheme on her website, the ads would be for women's clothing. If she had a page devoted to shoes, then any Adsense ad on that page would be for women's shoes.

So how is the price per click determined? This calculation is taken care of by the Adwords scheme. Adwords publishers work out the value of keywords and place bids on them. The amount that the publisher will pay per click is dependent on the value of the keyword. The value of keywords can be anywhere from a few cents to over $50 for each click.

It wouldn't be surprising to see someone making some nice money by putting Google Adsense on their web site and if their web site is generating a decent amount of traffic. With the sole purpose of attracting high paying Adsense ads, many Internet marketers create web sites with specific content. -
