Exactly What Is Google Adsense And How Are People Earning Money With It?

Most of the Internet marketing community is at least somewhat familiar with earning money through Google Adsense at this point. So having a better understanding of Adsense is worthwhile as Google Adsense can be a very lucrative venture for earning money.

Small contextual ads published on web sites with the consent of the web site owner is Google Adsense. The ads are created by publishers that are selling products and/or creating brand awareness. The ads that are created are called Adwords and they are also a Google sponsored program.

Google Adwords combines and work together with Adsense. Google gets a predetermined price from the person who created the ad, every time someone who does a search on Google or one of their partner networks clicks on one of the sponsored ads. This is what is known as 'pay per click.'

Where Adsense comes into its own, is that the web site owner or host receives a portion of the money that Google has received from the creator of the Adwords ad. It is a well guarded secret what the percentage of the split is, and it does vary, but for our purposes let's say it's 50%.

If the ad creator is fine to pay .40 per click for his Adwords ad, then the website host who has joined the Adsense scheme can expect to receive approximately .20 when the ad is clicked. The remaining .20 belongs to Google. This indicates how the web site owners and Google are partners in this scheme.

The fact that its placement is highly relevant is one of the most attractive qualities of the Adsense program. In what way? Well, probably the best way to illustrate this would be through an example. Mary has a web site featuring women's clothing. If Mary wanted to monetize her web site with Google Adsense the ads that would be shown would all be related to clothing, and more precisely, women's clothing. If a page of her web site was dedicated to shoes, then the Adsense ads appearing on that page would be for women's shoes.

So what determines the price per click? This is where the Adwords side of the equation kicks in. Publishers of Adwords bid on keywords. The more lucrative or sought after a keyword is, the more the publisher will be willing to pay for each click. Keywords range anywhere from a few cents to in excess of $50 per click.

By putting Google Adsense on their web site, it wouldn't be a wonder to see them making some nice money if the web site they own generates some decent traffic. Web sites with specific content are created by most Internet marketers with the sole purpose of attracting high paying Adsense ads. -
