Exactly What Is Google Adsense And How Are Internet Businesses Earning Money With It?

Most of the Internet marketing community is at least somewhat familiar with earning money through Google Adsense at this point. Among the benefits of using Google Adsense is the fact that it can be used for earning money and it is worth spending some time to see how Adsense does this.

Contextual ads are incorporated into a website after Google Adsense has gained the owner's permission. The ads are created by publishers that are selling products and/or creating brand awareness. Adwords, which is a Google sponsored program, is how these ads are referred to.

There is a very tight relationship between Google Adwords and Adsense. Whenever an ad is clicked by a user performing a search on Google or one of their partner networks, the ad creator pays an amount of money to Google. This is described as "pay per click".

Google has to split the money they receive from the creator or publisher of the ad with the person who owns or hosts the website that the Adwords ads appear and that is the uniqueness of Adsense. It is a well guarded secret what the percentage of the split is, and it does vary, but for our purposes let's say it's 50%.

Google and the host of the website split the money paid by the publisher. So if a publisher paid .40 per click for his Adwords ad, then the host of the website who welcomed Adsense can expect to get .20 and Google gets to keep the other .20 every time someone clicks on the ad that appears on the host's website. So Google and website owners are sort of like partners in this.

The fact that its placement is highly relevant is one of the most attractive qualities of the Adsense program. How is this achieved? This is best illustrated in an example. Mary hosts a website dedicated to women's clothing. If Mary wished to utilize the Google Adsense scheme on her website, the ads would be for women's clothing. An Adsense ad appearing on a particular page dedicated to shoes would also focus on shoes.

So how is the price per click determined? This calculation is taken care of by the Adwords scheme. Adwords publishers place bids on various keywords. A more sought after keyword will result in the publisher paying more for each click. Keywords range anywhere from a few cents to in excess of $50 per click.

Therefore combining a high traffic website with Google Adsense can result in a very lucrative deal. Many Internet marketers will create web sites with specific content for the sole purpose of attracting high paying Adsense ads. -
